Three ideas in twenty minutes
Sent the age and a budget on WhatsApp and got three suggestions with photos. The circuit kit arrived wrapped in that yellow brick paper with my message written on the card.

Channapatna Pull-Along Duck
Wobbling wooden duck on a cotton cord
A round-bellied duck on four off-centre wheels, so it waddles and nods as it is pulled along. The cord is soft braided cotton with a wooden bead handle, long enough for a first walker and short enough to be safe.
Turned and lacquered in Channapatna, with the eyes and beak burnt in rather than painted on. It is the toy we have sold most of since the shop opened, and still the one that makes toddlers in the shop stop and grin.

The stacking rings have been chewed for six months and the lac has not come off. You can feel the difference from the cheap painted ones.

My son was gliding in a week. Assembly took ten minutes. One star off because delivery took five days, but they called to let me know before the birthday.

Bought the Gujarati edition of Vyapari for Diwali and my father-in-law has not let anyone else be banker since. Paid cash on delivery, packed beautifully.
