Finishes

3 woods, one sound

Cabinets, cups and plinths are cut from solid timber from a mill in Thuringia, then oiled by hand. The finish changes the look of a room - never the voicing.

  • Walnut

European walnut, oiled five times. Deep chocolate grain that warms to amber over the years.

    Available on 7 pieces

  • Black Ash

Open-grained ash, stained and waxed. The texture stays visible through the black.

    Available on 7 pieces

  • Oak

White oak, hard-wax oiled. Pale and straight-grained, with the occasional medullary fleck.

    Available on 7 pieces

Liner notes

Heard properly, in good company

  1. The Resonant listening room in Kreuzberg, set for a Thursday session

    A13:34

    Listening session · Thursday nights

Twelve chairs, one record, no phones

Every Thursday at eight we dim the workshop, pull twelve chairs into the triangle between a pair of Tower 8s and play one album start to finish. No talking until the needle lifts. Then coffee, questions, and a chance to try anything on the bench - the evening is free, and nobody is asked to buy a thing.

Side B · The home trial

Thirty nights in your room, not ours

A showroom flatters everything. Your room has a glass wall, a sofa in the wrong place and a neighbour who works nights - that is where a speaker has to make sense. Live with anything we make for thirty nights. If it does not earn its place, we book a courier and refund you in full.

Cabinet-makers oiling walnut speaker cabinets in the Resonant workshop

Kreuzberg, Berlin · Since 2014

Built by people who listen after midnight

Resonant began in a courtyard workshop off Oranienstraße, where a cabinet-maker and a broadcast engineer started rebuilding valve amplifiers for friends who had inherited record collections and nothing to play them on.

We still build that way. Cabinets are cut and oiled by hand, drivers are matched in pairs on our own bench, and every amplifier is burned in for 48 hours before it ships. What leaves the workshop is designed to be serviced, re-capped and handed down.

Listener notes

Overheard after the needle lifted

  • “I took the Monitor 5s home on the trial expecting to send them back - my flat is all concrete and glass. Thirty nights later I sent the courier away and bought the stands.”
    Lena HartmannArchitect, Prenzlauer Berg
  • “The A-50 is the first amplifier I have owned that I want to look at with the lights off. It also happens to make my old Rega sound twenty years younger.”
    Tomasz WierzbickiThursday-session regular
  • “One of my HP-1 cups developed a buzz after two years. They had it on the bench in three days, replaced the driver and sent back the measurement of the new one.”
