Balanced DAC and Class-A headphone amp
The desk companion to the HP-1. A dual-mono DAC decodes up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512, feeding a discrete Class-A headphone stage with enough clean voltage to drive anything from sensitive in-ears to 300 Ω studio cans.
A single machined volume knob on a stepped attenuator, a 6.35 mm and a 4.4 mm balanced output, and line outs so it can sit in front of a pair of active speakers when the headphones come off.

The A-50 drives my old Rega speakers with an ease the solid-state amp never managed. Vocals sit in the room. And yes, the glow through the cage is half the reason I bought it.
