The Lab

We publish the graph, not the adjective

Every Axiom product is characterised in our anechoic chamber in Portland - frequency response, THD at 94dB SPL, group delay, and for displays a 1,000-patch ΔE report. The numbers go on the product page whether or not they flatter us.

Serviceability

Eleven screws, no adhesive

The Slate Ultralight opens with a single T5 driver. The battery, SSD, fans and both USB-C boards are modules you can order from us at cost for ten years after launch, with the service manual free to download.

    The SM-8s translate

I mixed on a matched pair for eight months and checked the results against a mastering room I trust. The low end translated within a decibel. The DSP correction sweep took four minutes and fixed a 6dB null at 120Hz I had been compensating for by ear for two years.

    Support that reads the schematic

I flagged a 0.4dB channel mismatch on my REF-1s - within spec, but it bothered me. The acoustics lead replied with the driver serial history attached and shipped a tighter-matched pair the next day. I have never had a support exchange like it.

    D27 Pro is genuinely ΔE<1

Verified against my own i1Display Pro and the factory report held up across the full P3 sweep. My only complaint is that the local dimming blooms slightly on white text over black at 1,600 nits - switch the HDR profile to 600-nit reference and it disappears.

Replaced the battery myself in 20 minutes

Three years on my Slate the battery was down to 79% health. Ordered the cell from Axiom at $48, downloaded the service manual, eleven screws and one connector. Back to full runtime for the price of a dinner. No other laptop I own would have let me do that.
