Engineering you can check
Axiom designs audio, display and computing hardware in Portland, Oregon, and publishes the measurements behind every claim we make.
We started in 2016 with a single question: why does consumer audio publish frequency ranges instead of frequency responses? A range - "20Hz to 20kHz" - tells you nothing about what happens in between. A response, measured on a calibrated rig with the tolerance stated, tells you everything. So we built the rig first and the company second.
Today that lab runs an anechoic chamber, a GRAS 45CA head-and-torso simulator, a Klippel near-field scanner for the SM-8 monitors and a CalMAN-certified colorimetry bench for displays. Nothing leaves the building without a test sheet, and the sheets are archived by serial number so we can pull yours up three years later when you email us.
The second commitment is repair. Our products open with standard drivers, use connectors rather than adhesive wherever thermal design allows, and ship with service manuals that anyone can download. We stock spare parts for ten years after a product launches and sell them at cost - batteries, drivers, panels, hinges, keycaps, switches and boards. A five-year warranty is the floor, not the plan.

A short history
2016
The chamber
Two engineers build a 3.2m anechoic chamber off NW Naito Parkway before shipping a single product.
2019
REF-1
The first 80mm planar headphone ships with a per-unit measurement sheet - still standard on everything we make.
2022
Open service manuals
Every schematic, exploded view and parts list is published free, and spares go on sale at cost.
2026
D27 Pro
A 1,152-zone mini-LED reference display calibrated to ΔE below 1 on a 1,000-patch sweep.
What we hold to
Published measurements
Every unit ships with its own test sheet - response, THD and channel match.
Five-year warranty
Parts and labour for five years, with spares stocked for ten after launch.
Engineers answer support
The person who replies to your ticket has the schematic open in front of them.
What customers say
“I mixed a record on the SM-8 pair for eight months, then checked it against the mastering room. The translation was so close I stopped second-guessing the low end entirely.”
“I asked about a 0.4dB channel mismatch on my REF-1s and got a reply from the acoustics lead with the driver serial history attached. They shipped a matched pair the next day.”
