Privacy promise

Your home stays in your home

Every Hearth device talks to the hub on your shelf, and the hub does the thinking. Motion detection, face-free person alerts and every routine you write run locally, so the lights still come on when the internet does not. Camera clips are encrypted on the hub; the cloud is an opt-in backup, never a requirement.

Designed for everyone home

Buttons still work. Guests still can.

A Hearth dimmer is a good light switch before it is anything else, and the lock opens with a key, a code or a tap. We design for the grandparent, the house-sitter and the six-year-old as carefully as for the person who wrote the automations.

Smart homes should feel like homes

Hearth Labs started at a kitchen table in the Mission, after our founders spent a weekend helping a parent untangle six apps, four hubs and a doorbell that needed the cloud to ring. We wanted the opposite: a few good devices, one hub, and nothing that stopped working when a server did.

We still design everything in San Francisco and test it in real houses - forty-two volunteer homes, from a Sunset District studio to a farmhouse in Petaluma. Every device ships with a printed setup card, a five-year warranty, and firmware updates for at least eight years.
