Kumo: a cloud of stone over a field of green

KumoJapanese for "cloud" · by Tan Wei Ling

Our October display tank is a 90P iwagumi by senior scaper Wei Ling Tan. Eleven pieces of seiryu stone, set around one main stone at the golden section, rise out of a carpet of Monte Carlo and dwarf hairgrass that took six weeks to close. There are no stem plants and no wood - just stone, a single carpet, and 30 chili rasbora moving through it like weather.

05 · Livestock, quarantined

Every shrimp and fish spends 14 days with us first

We breed our own Neocaridina and buy fish only from two farms we have visited. Everything sits in a quarantine rack in the studio for at least two weeks, eating and settled, before it is offered for sale. It ships the same day in oxygen-filled bags inside an insulated box, and if anything arrives dead we replace it - no argument.

    In Singapore our team carries the tank in, levels it, leak-tests it and plants the kit. Overseas, a scaper is on video call while you plant.

  • Live arrival, guaranteed

    Shrimp and fish are quarantined for 14 days and ship same-day in oxygen bags. Any loss on arrival is replaced or refunded.

A studio that grows the scapes it sells

Still Water started as a 45-centimetre tank on a shophouse windowsill, and a waiting list of friends who wanted one like it. Today the studio on Jalan Pinang keeps eleven display tanks running all year, so every light, filter and stone we sell has been tested in water before it reaches you.

We design for the tropics: tanks that stay cool without a chiller in a Singapore flat, lights that will not cook a carpet under a sunny window, and CO2 kits sized so a cylinder lasts months rather than weeks. And we still plant most of our Singapore kits ourselves.
