Choose your pet’s coat and we will write out the routine our groomers use in the salon: what to wash with, what to follow it with and the tool that finishes the job.
Dispensing slip · Curly coat
Curls catch everything and knit together into felt. Conditioning is not optional: it keeps each curl separate so a comb can pass.
Squeeze through the curls rather than scrubbing.

Materia botanica
Eight botanicals do most of the work in our formulas. Here is each one, what it is for and where you will find it. No sulphates, parabens, artificial colours or heavy perfumes.
Avena sativa
Finely milled oat that softens water and leaves a soothing film over dry, easily upset skin.
Oat & Calendula Wash
Calendula officinalis
Marigold petals steeped in sunflower oil. Calms and comforts skin after bathing.
Wash, Paw & Nose Balm
Matricaria chamomilla
A gentle flower water that brightens pale coats and keeps skin feeling calm.
Wire Coat Wash, Silk Rinse
Aloe barbadensis
Cooling leaf juice that adds slip to the coat so knots loosen without tugging.
Knot-Away Mist, Curl Cream
Vitellaria paradoxa
A rich, fair-trade butter that softens curls and cracked paw pads.
Curl Cream, Paw & Nose Balm
Terminalia ferdinandiana
A native Top End fruit, rich in vitamin C, that helps coats look glossy and bright.
Curl Cream Conditioner
Rosa canina
A light seed oil that conditions guard hairs without weighing a double coat down.
Double Coat De-shed Wash
Quillaja saponaria
A soap-bark tree whose natural saponins clean gently with a soft, low foam.
Every wash we make
Refill & save
Every wash and conditioner comes in a 1 L refill pouch that pours straight into your amber bottle. A pouch uses 86% less packaging than two plastic bottles, costs 28% less per wash, and comes back to us in a prepaid satchel to be cleaned and refilled.
Snip the spout and refill your amber bottle to the shoulder.
A splash of warm water, then hang the pouch to dry.
Five empties fill the prepaid satchel. We wash and refill them.
Prepaid return satchel in every order.
One litre of wash, bought two ways
86% less packaging, and every pouch comes home to be refilled.
The Brunswick salon
Behind the workroom is a two-chair salon where our groomers wash, dry and brush out using the same washes we bottle. No cages, no blasters, one pet at a time. Salon gift vouchers start at $60 and cover anything from a bath and brush to a full hand-scissored groom.

Dog skin sits at pH 6.2-7.4, closer to neutral than ours. Every wash is tested batch by batch to land in that window.
Blended in 40 litre batches in Brunswick from plant cleansers and Australian botanicals. Each bottle carries its batch number.
1 L pouches with a prepaid return satchel. Empties are washed and refilled or recycled in Melbourne, never landfilled.
Sydney Road, Brunswick - since 2018
Suds & Burrow began as a two-chair grooming salon at the Brunswick end of Sydney Road. Our founder, Odile Marchetti, trained as a cosmetic chemist before she trained as a groomer, and she could never find a wash she was happy to use on the itchy, the elderly and the very fluffy. So she started blending her own in the back room.
Clients kept asking to take a bottle home. Today we still make everything in 40 litre batches in that same room, from plant-derived cleansers, colloidal oat and native Australian botanicals, and we still use every formula in the salon before it goes on the shelf.
From the salon book
Rx · No. 001★★★★★
“Our cavoodle’s curls used to felt the week after a bath. Three washes into the curl routine and the comb glides straight through.”
Rx · No. 002★★★★★
“The only wash that doesn’t leave our husky smelling like a lolly shop. The de-shed wash and the rake have halved the tumbleweeds.”
Rx · No. 003★★★★★
“I have refilled the same two amber bottles for eighteen months. Sending the pouches back is easier than putting out the recycling.”
