Gentle grooming, blended in small batches
Suds & Burrow makes botanical washes, mists, balms and tools for dogs and cats in a workroom behind our grooming salon in Brunswick, Melbourne.
Odile Marchetti spent six years formulating skincare in Melbourne laboratories before retraining as a dog groomer. In the salon she saw the same thing every week: coats washed with products made for people, or for nobody in particular, and skin that did not thank them for it. In 2018 she opened a two-chair salon on Sydney Road and began blending washes for her clients in the back room.
Every Suds & Burrow formula is matched to a coat type and to pet skin, which is thinner than ours and closer to neutral pH. We clean with gentle plant-derived surfactants and quillaja bark, soothe with colloidal oat, calendula and chamomile, and condition with shea, rosehip and Kakadu plum, the native fruit with more vitamin C than almost any other. We leave out sulphates, parabens, artificial colours and the heavy perfumes that make a dog want to roll in the garden the moment it is dry.
Our products are cosmetic: they clean, condition and care for coats and skin. If your pet has a skin condition, please see your vet first. Every batch is numbered, every bottle is glass or refillable, and every pouch that comes back is cleaned and refilled or recycled in Melbourne.

What we hold to
pH-balanced for pets
Dog skin sits at pH 6.2-7.4, closer to neutral than ours. Every wash is tested batch by batch to land in that window.
Botanical, small-batch
Blended in 40 litre batches in Brunswick from plant cleansers and Australian botanicals. Each bottle carries its batch number.
Refill, return, repeat
1 L pouches with a prepaid return satchel. Empties are washed and refilled or recycled in Melbourne, never landfilled.
What customers say
“Our cavoodle’s curls used to felt the week after a bath. Three washes into the curl routine and the comb glides straight through.”
“The only wash that doesn’t leave our husky smelling like a lolly shop. The de-shed wash and the rake have halved the tumbleweeds.”
“I have refilled the same two amber bottles for eighteen months. Sending the pouches back is easier than putting out the recycling.”
