Natural tree rubber
Ganga Natural Rubber Mat
Open-cell tree rubber, grips harder as you sweat
From the banks of the Ganga, Rishikesh
Natural rubber, cork and jute mats, cotton props and meditation cushions, made for a practice that begins long before the first pose - and made to go back to the earth when you are done with them.
Breathe with the circle - in for four, out for four
No PVC, TPE or foam in any product, and no plastic in the parcel - kraft, jute and cotton tape only.
Every mat and prop spends a full season in our Tapovan studio before it is offered for sale.
Practise on any mat for a month. If the grip or thickness is wrong, we collect it from your door.
Choose your ground
Thickness changes a practice more than colour or brand. Here is how our teachers explain it to first-time students.
4mm
Firm and light. Standing balances feel planted, and it rolls small enough to carry to class.
Travel · vinyasa · balance
6mm
Where most students settle: enough give for kneeling, still stable on one leg.
Daily hatha · mixed practice
8mm
Cushioned for tender knees and wrists, long seated holds and restorative work.
Restorative · yin · prenatal

Not sure? Practise on any mat for 30 days. If the thickness is wrong, we collect it from your door and refund in full.

Practice with us
Acharya Devika Rawat has taught hatha and pranayama in Tapovan for nineteen years. Every Sunday at six she leads a free seventy-minute class from the steps below our studio - streamed live for anyone who cannot be on the river - and every prop we sell has been through a season of her classes first.
Materials & footprint
Tree rubber tapped in Kottayam, cork stripped from the bark without felling the tree, jute grown in the Hooghly delta and cotton grown without pesticide in Madhya Pradesh. No PVC, no TPE, no foam. Every product carries a footprint note telling you what it is made of and how it should end its life.
Natural tree rubber
Biodegradable rubber, no PVC - return it to us at end of life
Agglomerated bark cork
Made from offcuts of the cork stopper industry; compostable
Organic cotton canvas cover

“I have sweated through three PVC mats in two years. The Ganga mat grips more the hotter the room gets, and it smells of nothing after the first week.”
Ritika Menon
Vinyasa teacher, Bengaluru
“My knees told me to try the 8 mm, the studio told me to try the 6 mm first. They were right - balance poses feel planted and kneeling no longer hurts.”
Harshad Joshi
Practising since 2023, Vadodara
“The starter kit had everything my mother needed for her first class, including a little card telling her what each prop is for. She uses the strap every morning.”

Tapovan, since 2014
Prana Path began in 2014 as a small teaching room above a tea stall on Laxman Jhula Road, with eleven borrowed mats and a view of the river. Students kept asking where our props came from; the honest answer was that we had them made, a few at a time, by people we knew.
We still teach every morning, and we still only sell what we practise on. A mat stays in the studio for a full season before it goes on sale, and if our teachers do not reach for it, it does not ship.
