A fine jute weave from a cooperative near Kolkata, pressed into a natural rubber base so the fibres cannot lift. The surface stays dry and slightly textured under the palms - a grounded, almost rug-like feel that many students prefer for slow hatha, yin and seated practice.
Jute gives a firmer, less springy surface than rubber or cork, so it suits practices that move slowly and hold long. Choose 8 mm for knees and long seated holds, or 4 mm if the mat will travel with you.
