Two kadais, two generations, one kalai slip
Sent my mother’s 1979 kadai and the one I bought here in 2022 for re-tinning together. Both came back in eleven days, silver inside, with the weight before and after written on the slip.
A round brass spice box with seven tin-lined katoris for haldi, mirchi, rai, jeeru, dhana, hing and salt, a small brass spoon and an inner lid that keeps the aroma in. The outer lid closes with a firm press.
The most-gifted thing in the shop after the thali set. Add a name or a date on the lid and we engrave it by hand.

Ordered the matte kansa set for two. Heavy, beautifully turned, and it really does ring when you tap it. Dal tastes no different, but dinner feels like an occasion.
