Calendula (Calendula officinalis) picked by hand every third morning through July and August, dried in the barn loft and then solar-infused for six weeks in cold-pressed high-oleic sunflower oil from Twin Kill Farm in Hudson, New York. The result is a light, fast-absorbing oil the colour of weak tea, with a little rosehip seed and vitamin E to keep it stable.
Calendula has a long history in European folk skincare, traditionally used to soothe dry or weather-worn skin. Warm a few pumps between the palms and work it into damp skin straight out of the bath. The unscented version contains nothing but the four oils; the scented options are botanical essential oil only, at under 0.8%.
