A fine, earthy powder built on ashwagandha root (Withania somnifera) direct-seeded on our own field in May and dug by hand in the second week of October, after the first frost. We dry it below 105°F, mill it whole, and blend it with reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) grown on oak logs by Oakhollow Mushrooms in Accord, New York, and our own tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) cut at flowering.
Ashwagandha has been used in Ayurvedic practice for centuries and is traditionally taken to support rest and a steady response to everyday stress. Stir a teaspoon into warm oat milk with honey in the evening, or into a morning coffee if that is where the habit sticks. Speak to your clinician before use if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking thyroid or sedative medication.
