A thali with the border chased by hand and the field left plain, because a busy centre makes it impossible to see where the kumkum and rice actually are. Four shallow wells are cast into the rim for haldi, kumkum, akshat and a wick.
The raised lip is 12 mm, high enough that a thali carried through a crowded room at Diwali does not shed rice on the floor. The base can be engraved with a name and a date at no extra cost - allow three extra working days.

Bought the 24-inch samai for my mother when she shifted to Bopal. It is genuinely heavy, it comes apart for cleaning, and she has lit it every morning since March. The antique finish has darkened a little and honestly it looks better for it.

The urli is beautiful and the weight is reassuring. It did darken within about two months in Mumbai humidity - the polish they send works well, but you should expect to do it. Docking one star only because I wish the care card said so more loudly on the product page.
