Almost every complaint we hear about a cleanser comes down to pH and surfactant choice. This one is built on sodium cocoyl glutamate and coco-betaine at pH 5.2, so it removes the day without taking the barrier’s lipids with it, and it still produces the modest foam that makes a cleanse feel finished.
Glycerin at 3% and 0.5% allantoin stay on the skin after rinsing. In a 12-week user trial of 141 volunteers using it twice daily, 90% reported no increase in tightness or dryness, and dermatologist-graded erythema scores were unchanged from baseline across the panel. A hazelnut-sized amount is enough.
