Tulsi & Sunthi Kwatha Tea by Vaidya Kutir

Tulsi & Sunthi Kwatha Tea

Three tulsi varieties, whole leaf

Rama, Krishna and Vana tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) grown on our Kalol plots and shade-dried whole, blended with dry ginger (Zingiber officinale), a little mulethi and cardamom into a light everyday kwatha that can be drunk through the day without tiring the palate.

Tulsi is treated in Ayurveda as a daily household herb, classically used to support clear breathing and easy digestion, and is a standard part of dinacharya in the damp months. Simmer a teaspoon in a cup of water for three minutes and strain. Caffeine-free.

    The label tells you everything

I have bought triphala from a dozen places over the years. This is the first jar that told me which three fruits, in what ratio, which harvest and which laboratory tested the lot. The churna itself is finer and smells fresher than anything from the big brands.

The vaidya told me to buy less

I ordered four things and the consultation call went twenty-five minutes. The vaidya asked about my routine, my sleep and my prakriti, then said two of the four were unnecessary for me and offered to refund them. I have ordered from nobody else since.

    Kumkumadi is the real thing

Genuinely saffron-heavy, and the colour on the pillowcase proves it. Expensive, but a 30 ml bottle has lasted me five months at three drops a night. Four stars only because the dropper leaked slightly in transit - they replaced the cap without argument.

    COD, delivered in three days

Ordered the chyawanprash on Cash on Delivery on a Monday and it reached Surat on Thursday, packed properly in a glass jar with no leakage. Tastes like the one my grandmother used to make rather than the sweet paste sold in shops.
