Good design, for the ones who wait by the door
Hound & Hall is a small Brooklyn studio making collars, leashes, harnesses, beds and bowls for dogs and cats, in a colour card borrowed from the mid-century poster.
Nell Hall spent ten years designing posters and book covers before she adopted Otto, a long-legged lurcher with a neck that defeated every collar on the market. In 2019 she drew her own in cobalt and tomato, had fifty sewn by a sail-maker in Red Hook and sold them in an afternoon at the Brooklyn Flea.
We now cut and sew in a studio on Union Street in Gowanus, in batches of two hundred, so every piece is checked by the person who stitched it. Hardware is solid brass from a family foundry in Waterbury, Connecticut; bowls are thrown and glazed in the Hudson Valley; bed felt comes from recycled wool spun in Maine.
Fit comes first. Our size chart is built from more than nine thousand measurements customers have sent us, the fit finder on our home page uses it directly, and every collar and harness has 60 days of free size swaps. One in every twenty collars we make goes to our shelter partners in New York and New Jersey.

2026
The fit finder
Nine thousand customer measurements become our size chart and the two-measurement fit finder.
What we hold to
Measured to fit
A two-measurement fit finder, a size chart on every page and 60 days of free swaps if the tape lied.
Built to outlast the puppy
Solid brass hardware, bar-tacked stress points and a two-year guarantee on every stitch. We repair before we replace.
Recycled where it counts
Webbing from recycled bottles, felt from recycled wool and boxes from recycled card. No plastic in the mail.
What customers say
“Our greyhound has the neck of a swan and nothing ever fit. The fit finder said M on the edge of L, we went L, and it is perfect.”
“The Half Moon Bed is the first dog bed I have not wanted to hide when people come over. The cat has also claimed it.”
“Two years of daily walks in the rain and the brass on the matching set has only got better looking.”
New colourways, before anyone else
One short letter a month from the studio: the next seasonal colour, first pick of each new batch, a fit tip and a good dog of the month. No spam, ever.
