The kiln
Our stoneware is thrown and glazed at a small pottery outside Rønne, using a local clay body fired to 1,260°C. Each piece carries the marks of the hand that made it, which is why no two mugs are quite the same weight.
Inside the potteryEvery piece lists the workshop that made it and the town it came from.
Shades, cords, buttons and lids stay in stock while a piece is in the catalogue.
Unbleached paper and board. No plastic, no foam, no printed inserts.
Materials
Stoneware, linen, wool, oak, paper and cotton. We keep the list short so we can know where each one comes from, and so a broken piece can be repaired or returned to the ground rather than thrown away.

Halde started in a grain loft on Refshaleøen with one product: a stoneware mug that held exactly 300ml and did not tip when the harbour ferry went past. We sold it to a café down the road, then to their neighbours.
Fifteen years on we make forty things. We add roughly two a year and retire one, and we only work with makers we have visited. Nothing is designed for a season, because we do not have seasons.
I bought four mugs in 2018. They go in the dishwasher every day and the glaze still looks the way it did in the shop.
The throw arrived creased and unironed, with a note explaining that linen is meant to look like that. It was right.
