A short list of things worth keeping

Halde makes everyday objects in Copenhagen: stoneware, linen, wool, oak and paper.

Shelves of finished stoneware in the Copenhagen workshop

We began in 2011 in a former grain loft on Refshaleøen, where the rent was low and the light was good. The first product was a 300ml stoneware mug with a low centre of gravity, made because nobody we knew owned a mug they actually liked. A café on Strandgade took twelve, and the loft has been a workshop ever since.

The catalogue has grown slowly and on purpose. We keep to six materials so that we can know each of them properly: stoneware thrown outside Rønne on Bornholm, linen woven in Kaunas, wool spun from Gotland fleece, oak from managed forests in Jutland, paper folded here in the loft, and organic cotton knitted in Portugal. Nine workshops in all, every one of which we have stood in.

We do not run seasons or sales, and we do not design to a trend calendar. A piece stays in the catalogue until we find something honestly better, and while it is there we keep the spare parts for it - lampshades, cords, lids, buttons. If something breaks, write to us before you replace it. More often than not we can fix it or send the missing part.

What we hold to

  • Named makers

Every piece lists the workshop that made it and the town it came from.

  • Spare parts kept

Shades, cords, buttons and lids stay in stock while a piece is in the catalogue.

  • Plain packaging

Unbleached paper and board. No plastic, no foam, no printed inserts.

What customers say

“I bought four mugs in 2018. They go in the dishwasher every day and the glaze still looks the way it did in the shop.”
Anna Lindqvist - Customer since 2018
“The throw arrived creased and unironed, with a note explaining that linen is meant to look like that. It was right.”
Tomas Berg - Customer since 2022
