We started in 2019 with a single problem: a three-year-old who was scared of the dark and a night light that got too hot to touch. Our founder, Nina Okafor, a lighting designer by trade, built a moon lamp from a low-voltage LED strip, a hand-turned shade and a fade timer - and the neighbours started asking for one.

Every product now begins in our Brunswick studio with a simple question: would we put this beside our own child’s bed? Lamps are low-voltage and cool-touch. Paints and stains are water-based and tested to EN 71-3. Fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified cotton, and anything that could tip or pull comes with anchors and tidies in the box.

We make in small runs with two family workshops - a woodshop in Ballarat and a textile studio in Geelong - and design each collection around a room theme children actually ask for: Space, Jungle, Ocean and Fairytale. Our 60-night trial exists because you only really know a room works after a few weeks of bedtimes.

    The first moon

    Fifty hand-sanded Lumi Moon lamps sell out at a Brunswick market in a single morning.
