Cool-touch LED moon with a 30-minute fade

The lamp Moonbeam started with: a hand-finished moon on a solid oak stand, lit from inside by a low-voltage LED that stays cool enough to cuddle after a full night on. Tap the top to cycle through three brightness levels; hold it to start a 30-minute fade so the room dims slowly, long after little eyes close.

Our studio styled a small Fitzroy bedroom for a four-year-old who would only sleep with the light on. A moon lamp that fades out over thirty minutes, a ceiling of glow stars and a rocket tent for reading in - and now lights-out is the best part of the day. Every piece in the picture is pinned below.

Every Moonbeam lamp runs on low-voltage LEDs that stay cool to the touch after a full night on. Paints and stains are water-based and tested to the EN 71-3 toy-safety standard for heavy metals, fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified cotton, and anything with a cord ships with cord tidies and wall anchors in the box.

    Rocket tent is a hit

    Took ten minutes to put together, no tools. The glow stars in the nose cone were a surprise - both boys now “launch” at bedtime and read inside it. Canvas feels really solid.

Made in Melbourne since 2019

It started with one very small night owl

Moonbeam began when our founder, Nina Okafor, couldn’t find a night light for her daughter that didn’t get hot, buzz, or glow a harsh hospital white. She sanded the first moon lamps in a Brunswick garage and sold the first fifty at the Rose Street market.

Today a team of eleven designs every piece in our Brunswick studio, works with two family workshops we visit every season, and tests each finish for little teeth before it ever reaches a room.
