Six winters and counting
I have worn the same overcoat for six winters. It has been re-lined once, free of charge, and it looks better now than the day it arrived. Nothing else in my wardrobe has earned its place so completely.
Cut wide through the shoulder and long in the body from a dense Japanese poplin that has been garment-washed twice to take the starch out of it.
A single-needle placket, mother-of-pearl buttons and a collar interlined to stand without fusing.
